Baby Jaxon was a superstar when he came into the Samphire studio at 16 days old. He was super chilled and settled into all the poses I had planned for the session. He was restful and relaxed in my chosen nature palette of greens, browns and neutrals. Cosy too, in the snuggly knits and hats. This meant a great gallery with lots to choose from for Mum and Dad. Newborn Baby Smiles
Did you know that these smiles, known as Neonatal Smiling happens from birth to one month of age, but they are not linked to emotion. They happen spontaneously and often occur while the baby is drowsy or during REM stages of sleep. So now you know these smiles are definitely not wind! I always like to try to capture these adorable expressions when they happen. Sadly, is it not always possible as I am often holding your little ones, soothing them into sleep at the moment they smile. Trust me, there is nothing more frustrating for a newborn photographer than when this happens!

Samphire Photography invites all newborn clients back for a complimentary sitter session. That way I get to see how ‘my’ babies have grown. This is also one of my most favourite ages to photograph babies at. At this stage babies may be sitting up or lifting themselves up onto all fours, bringing opportunities to pose them sitting in our vintage baskets or tin bath tub. These sessions are fun, and focus on capturing the personality of your little one!
