What do you buy an established family as a wedding present? Why, a family portraits on location photo shoot, of course! When you have been together as a family for a number of years you most likely already have pretty much everything you need. So another fruit bowl is probably not going to be top of your list when it comes to a wedding list. An inspired friend of this lucky family, however, decided to think outside the box and gift them a family portrait session. Being a busy family it is not always easy to get everyone together, so we decided on a location near to them in Brighton.
But where, Clare?
Stanmer Park was a new setting for me to work in, although I am familiar with it as I lived in Brighton and Hove for a number of years. With a location session I always arrive at the setting earlier than the shoot itself. I like to have plenty of time to have a good walk around. This means that I can look at the best areas to photograph in, working with the changeable British weather to ensure that you get the most from your session.
This particular session started with the sky slightly overcast. Then we had full, glorious sunshine. Wonderful for the soul but always a challenge for photographers! And finally, the rain clouds gathered and we managed to finish the shoot just before the downpour started. We had literally minutes to spare!
A family portrait photoshoot was a new experience for this family and it was a really enjoyable morning with lots of laughter. They also brought along their pet dog, a very important family member, who was amazing. So much boundless energy which we totally captured during the shoot.

Gifting a family portrait session – to which you can add products or a set amount – is a really great present. Not only do they get to enjoy the experience itself, they also have the pleasure of viewing the images and keeping those memories for ever.
Such a gorgeous family. How can you not smile when you see these portraits? Their happiness is definitely contagious.
