As a mother of three children I know there is nothing more magical than the first few days of a baby’s life. I adore all types of photography but it’s portraiture that really captures my heart. To take portraits during your baby’s first month is an honour and a joy. It is also an art involving calming techniques, posing expertise and lots and lots of patience. I have all of these in abundance and use them to ensure you are rewarded with outstanding portraits of your little one.

This gorgeous baby girl Evelyn came in to the Samphire studio when she was just 7 days old. Oh my. What a beauty! She was born weighing just over 8lbs with the most amazing hair. I certainly wish my little ones had been born which such beautiful tresses!
Evelyn was a total dream to photograph and I even managed to capture an adorable sleepy smile. Don’t you just love it?
I opted for a beautiful mix of gentle purples and blues for her newborn session. Although blue is not a traditional colour for little girls, I absolutely love it. It certainly suited this little poppet. I teamed it up with delicate floral blue fabrics and a variety of headbands which made it super sweet and feminine. Add in a cute little felted mouse all wrapped up in their own little snuggly blanket and various soft textured layers and… oh, so pretty!
Baby Evelyn was an absolute star and slept the whole way through her session which meant this newborn photographer Dorking was able to capture a great gallery of images for Mum and Dad.
I had to also share this image with you, one that Mum and Dad specifically requested, and it just goes to show how tiny and precious these babies are that I photograph. Safe in Mummy and Daddy’s hands, beautiful baby Evelyn is sleeping soundly. Simply gorgeous.

Sounds like an old wives’ tale but actually researchers have found there is truth to this folklore. It’s all to do with the levels of pregnancy hormones with a bit of genetics thrown in too. Can you back this up? Were any of your babies born with a good head of hair, or did it grow much later like it did for my three?

It is never too early to book in your with your newborn photographer. Initially we set a tentative session date based on your due date. As we know, babies rarely come when they are predicted to, but this gives us a good place to start.
