I photograph children and babies from all over Sussex and Surrey, and Newborn portraits Southwater are such a great way to capture your baby’s first few weeks. I have had clients travel to me from Barns Green, Billingshurst, Brighton and beyond. Please don’t worry about travelling for your photoshoot. There is a parking space and a cuppa waiting for you when you arrive.
The entire session is very relaxing, as I take care of your little one, leaving you time to sit back, relax, chat, or even snooze!
This young man came into the Samphire studio when he just 7 days old, for his newborn portraits Southwater. His mum had booked in on hearing a recommendation from a friend. Let me just say, there’s no better compliment than a recommendation from a happy client!
Little Harrison was adorable, let me tell you. He came in with his older brother, Frankie, and both boys were superstars throughout the session. Harrison slept like a dream and Frankie was amazing at listening to instructions, which always makes my job trouble-free.

Siblings
More often than not, when I have brothers and sisters in the studio I schedule the sibling shots for the beginning of the session, as the studio is kept at a toasty temperature for baby’s comfort. However, after a while this can be too warm for their siblings. If they find they need some fresh air and exercise, to move around more whilst I concentrate on the baby, there is a park with a children’s play area not too far from the Samphire studio.
A simply gorgeous tonal palette of greys, greens and blues was selected for Harrison’s portraits. Such a cohesive mix, I adore it. Using soft knits, cosy wraps and cute hats to make it super comfortable for him. I also incorporated some cute, seasonal, felted pumpkins as a nod to the time of year he was born. I couldn’t resist!
I’m sure you will agree, Harrison’s newborn photoshoot has given Mum and Dad a great gallery of images that they will treasure.

Newborn Portraits Southwater

Time is taken to make sure all their tiny limbs are posed in the right positions, to ensure their comfort and that no pressure is put on any part. Babies of All Ages
Did you know, Newborn photoshoots generally take place when your little one is up to 2 weeks old, but I photograph newborn babies up to a month. So, if you have missed the first 2 weeks window, then do still get in touch. The session lasts between 2-4 hours, allowing plenty of time for getting baby off to sleep, top-up feeds and cuddles of course.
For slightly older babies, a Newborn mini session would be ideal. These are great for little ones up to 8 weeks old. The session lasts up to one hour and are undertaken while your baby is fully wrapped.
Older still? Consider a styled family session. These are focussed much more on your family unit but of course will include some portraits of your baby on their own. Whether you are looking for relaxed images or something more formal, I work closely with you to ensure we get images that reflect your family at their best.
And for those that have little ones that are sitting up without support, then a Milestone session could be ideal for you. This is another of my favourite ages to photograph babies at. At this stage babies may be sitting up or lifting themselves up onto all fours. Bringing opportunities to pose them sitting in our vintage baskets or tin bathtub. These sessions are fun and focus on capturing the personality of your little one!
